Telehealth Services Now Available

We have changed our name from Gomez Addiction Treatment & Evaluation Services to Gomez Health Systems to reflect additional and more comprehensive services that have been made available following legislation in 2012 recognizing telehealth as a means of increasing access to services while reducing overall costs to the consumer.

What is Telehealth?
Telehealth is the use of electronic means, including encrypted web-based conferencing, to promote long-distance clinical healthcare.

Is Telehealth Confidential?
Patient health data is protected by HIPAA, HITECH, and 42 C.F.R. Part II.  Counselor-client federal law, regulation, and Supreme Court precedent.

Is Telehealth Expensive?

The cost of telehealth services is comparable to most insurance copays.  In many cases, our fees for assessments, evaluations, and counseling sessions are substantially lower than in-person therapy.  Please note that clients who are required to obtain urine drug screens will be required to do so at a testing center where additional fees apply.

Treatment Approach

During the past seven years, I have been fortunate to work with, and learn from, resilient individuals who have survived significant hardships.  Because many clients frequently experience emotional and socioeconomic barriers that continue to significantly affected their mental health, physical health, and ability to engage in important work and social activity, it is important to assist the client in identifying critical issues before engaging in meaningful efforts to achieve meaningful and lasting results.  Therefore, assessment and treatment planning are important parts of the counseling process, as they help to arrive at a diagnosis that will serve as a guide in therapy.

Assessment and Treatment Planning

In order to assess emotional, mental, behavioral, psychosocial, and occupational function, it is important to utilize time-tested diagnostic tools.  Clients often find these tools helpful in gaining valuable insight into the nature and scope of their challenges.  Once a diagnosis has been established or confirmed, goals for treatment are established in collaboration with the client.

Counseling

Thereafter, clients have a meaningful opportunity to learn various coping techniques in a collaborative manner using evidence-based therapies, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, logotherapy, and compassion-focused therapy. Clients often find that a combination of techniques from different types of therapy is most useful in addressing complex emotional challenges.  Coordination of care is an available option for those clients who seek to explore the need for medication in addressing their mental health.

Optional Coordination of Care Services

I am able to consult with family physicians, internists, and psychiatrists to ensure that the client receives the most comprehensive level of care possible.  Please let me know if you are seeking coordination of care for medication management services, which may be helpful in addressing ongoing emotional challenges.

Thank you very much again taking the time to review this site.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
